Studentships/Scholarships – Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna

Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna is offering various studentships and scholarships to assist financially disadvantaged students. The intention of giving studentships/scholarships is to prevent a student being affected by financial problems in continuing his/her studies. We believe that, it will at least give a small boost to the students who are really in need of financial support.

At this instance, on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the donors who are helping us to provide the financial assistance. We assure that, your contributions will reach appropriate students. While appreciating your timely assistance wholeheartedly, we humbly request you to continue helping us whenever the necessity arises.

Presently, there are twelve studentships/ scholarships offered by the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna. The details of each of them are given below.

2	Engineering Studentship – 02	Rs. 2, 000 per student/ month for 10 financially unsound students from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna.
3	Engineering Studentship – 03	Rs. 3, 000 per student/ month for 04 financially unsound students from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna.
4	Engineering Studentship – 04	Rs. 10, 000 per student/ 05 times a year for 02 financially unsound students from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna.
5	Prof. Ambikairajah Studentship for financially disadvantaged Students	Rs. 4, 000 per student/ batch/ month for 01 financially unsound student from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna.
6	Siva-Thaya-Thayakaran-Ramesh Memorial Studentship	Rs. 2, 000 per student/ month for 01 financially unsound student from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna.
7	Maheswary – Jayanthi Memorial Studentship	Rs. 2, 000 per student/ month for 02 financially unsound student from Engineering Faculty, University of Jaffna.
8	Engineering Studentship – 05	Rs. 10, 000 per student/ 05 times a year for 02 financially unsound students from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna.
9	Prof. S. Mahalingam Memorial Studentship for Financially Disadvantaged Students	Rs. 3, 000 per student/ month for 02 financially unsound student from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna.
10	Engineering Studentship – 06	Rs. 2, 000 per student/ month for 02 financially unsound student from Engineering Faculty, University of Jaffna.
11	Prof. R. Logen Logendran Studentship for financially disadvantaged students	For 3rd year engineering students (03 studentships): Students eligible to apply for this studentship will need to have received a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during their first four semesters of education at UJE. Rs.3,000/ student/ month for 12 months. For 4th year engineering students (03 studentships): Students eligible to apply for this studentship will need to have received a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during their first six semesters of education at UJE. Rs.3,000/ student/ month for 12 months.
Awards
12	Prof. Ambikairajah Award for the best performance	Rs. 4, 000 per student/ semester/ for 01 student from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna with best performance in that semester
13	Prof. S. Mahalingam Memorial Award for Innovative Project Proposal	Rs. 50, 000 for an innovative project proposal from the students of the Engineering Faculty, University of Jaffna.
14	Endowment in memory of late Mr. Perampalam Vivegananthan	Rs. 30, 000 (6% of capital amount Rs. 500, 000) for the best performing student in the course unit of ‘Power Systems’ (EC6030).

Applying for Studentship/ Scholarship

The application for studentship/ scholarship will be advertised on noticeboard or website of the Faculty of Engineering. Students shall collect/dowload the form and submit the duly filled form to the dean’s office, Faculty of Engineering before due date. The late and incomplete applications will not be entertained.

When you submit the form, please make sure that you have provided all the necessary information and signatures from the required authorities. We appreciate your corporation.

Selection Criteria

The collected applications from the applicants will be shortlised immediately after the deadline. The sub-committee for studentship/scholarship, Faculty of the Engineering, has prepared a set of rules to select eligible candidates for studentship/scholarship which can be found here.
