Dr. (Eng.) S.B. Wijekoon, Chairman, Institute of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) visited the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna, Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi on 19th January 2015. His visit was a follow-up event after the opening ceremony of a new office for the IESL Northern chapter which at Old Kachcheri premises, Kilinochchi.
During his visit,Dr. S. B. Wijekoon delivered a talk for the engineering undergraduates. He also chaired the session ofestablishingthe IESL student chapter at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna. Dr. S. S. Sivakumar, Dr. T. Thiruvaran and Mr. S. Sampathalso attended thissession. Members of the IESL student chapter were elected during this session where Mr. Ratnakumar Neethan, Mr. Akila Eranda, Mr. Ashan Madushka and Ms. Tharshika Vickneswaran were appointed as the president, secretary, vice president and junior treasurer of the IESL student chapter respectively. This event is followed with a discussion with academic staff of faculty of Engineering, at the faculty board room which led to valuable discussions about the collaborative activities of the faculty with IESL in the near future.
