Seminar on “Hypotheses of cultivating fresh water in the Jaffna Lagoons, is a challenge for Engineers and Environmentalists”.

This awareness research presentation was jointly organized by the Department of Civil Engineering Faculty of Engineering of the University of Jaffna, Institute of Engineers of Northern Provincial Centre, Jaffna Managers Forum and Jaffna Science Association Section B. It was held at the Faculty of Engineering on 11th August 2014. This presentation was based the research carried out by Eng. S. Kuganesan from Norway under Dr. S.S. Sivakumar’s supervision. This event was very successful with the participation of 94 participants including Secretary, former GA, Senior Academics, Directors and Engineers.

Tea-time with Teachers

On 9th August 2014, at the end of the semester 1, staff crew of the Faculty of Engineering engaged in a discussion with students to get their feedback about the completed semester. The discussion was arranged by the student counsellor of the Faculty.The discussion started with a tea party followed by some entertainment activities by both staff and students. Finally, a group of physicians comprised of a consultant and a medical doctor from Kilinochchi hospital lead by the Medical Superintend Dr. P. Karthikeyan, conducted a talk on “How to face challenges”.

Discussion with Professor Maheshan Niranjan

Professor Maheshan Niranjan came to the Faculty and stayed on 31st July and 1st August 2014. He conducted a workshop on computing at the Faculty of Engineering. Prof Maheshan Niranjan was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering when he was at Sheffield University. He graduated from the University of Peradeniya and completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge. Continue reading
