Two solar panels were donated by Eng. K. Gnanalingam

Eng. K. Gnanalingam, who is a retired Additional General Manager from the Ceylon Electricity Board, donated two solar panels (Model- Phono Solar, Module type-PS250P-20/U) through his cousin Mr. Thirayambagan on 10th October 2015. This donation was to enhance students’ projects at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The donor is willing to use these solar panels to promote the use of Solar Energy in the country, which is blessed with very good sunshine.

Targeted projects with this donation are: low cost plug and play model of Solar PV, home grown low cost micro inverter and low cost tracking device for rooftop solar panels.

Finally an exhibition may be organized to promote the use of renewable energy in the country. Some investigation can also be done on large scale solar power plant integration.
It is an excellent opportunity for the students, where they will be having few special projects during semesters 6, 7 and 8.
