Team visited to check the progress on the Australian-Sri Lankan University Partnerships to develop community based waste recycling business

Dr. Randika Jayasinghe and Dr. V. Cynthujah, project coordinators from the Universities of Western Australia and Jaffna organize this team visit from 14th to 16thFebruary 2016 at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna. In this team, the project leader Prof. Caroline and other members from the University of Queensland, University of Western Australia and University of Perth visited to the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Jaffna.

This team demonstrated the operational aspects of the machinery, which were donated in November 2015. This is one of the best areas to be developed on converting wastes into business. Demonstrations on preparing sheets and boards made of composite materials with agricultural wastes and cloth materials along with polythene were performed.

The project coordinators and leader further informed that they were planning to support to get a dedicated Research Assistant position to the Faculty of Engineering for 15 months starting from 2016 middle. The Faculty sincerely thanks, Prof. Caroline, Dr. Randika Jayasinghe and Dr. V. Cynthujah for their excellent team work and supports to get this project at its very successful state.
