Faculty staff participated to the workshop on “Designing Active Learning for Engineering Education” Organized by the IESL

A full-day workshop on the theme “Designing Active Learning for Engineering Education” was conducted by the Accreditation Board of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) head office in Colombo on 15th November 2016. This was intended for university academic staff involved in curriculum development.

It covered following subject areas

  • Teaching and Learning approaches to Support Learning Outcomes,
  • Identifying Appropriate Assessment Methods,
  • Curriculum Mapping and
  • Course Design.

The workshop was conducted by Professor Brian White, University of Queensland, Australia. Academic staff of engineering faculties of all state and private universities participated in the workshop. Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda, President of IESL opened the workshop with Opening Remarks the event closed with Closing Remarks by Eng. (Prof) B L Tennekoon, Chairman, IESL Accreditation Board.

  • Dr. P. Kathirgamanathan – Convener of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) cell of the Faculty of Engineering and Senior Lecturer Grade I, Department of Interdisciplinary Studies.
  • Eng. M. Vignarajah – Accreditation Manager of the Faculty of Engineering and Senior Lecturer Grade I, Department of Civil Engineering.
  • Dr. T. Thiruvaran – Head, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
