Faculty staff participated to the World Intellectual Property Day Seminar 2017

The Commercial Loa Development Program U.S. Department of Commerce of the U.S. Embassy in Colombo organized the world IP Day seminar at the Taj Samudra Hotel on 26th April 2017. This was organized in coordination with the University Grant Commission (UGC), National Intellectual Property Organization (NIPO), United State Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This was funded by Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs U.S. State Department and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

This program was organized with the theme of the year as “Innovation-Improving Lives”. The session was started with welcome address by the Director General NIPO, Remarks by Economic and Commercial Section Chief of U.S. Embassy. Then an excellent deliver from the UGC Chairman on University Innovation in Sri Lanka – Yesterday to Today, followed on Innovation Ecosystem and Judicial Enforcement of Intellectual Property Cases by TBD. Then the panel discussion was conducted on strengthening Sri Lnka’s Innovation Ecosystem. The event was blessed with the Chief Guest speech by Hon. Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce. Finally it was concluded with the Way forward message from Director General NIPO. Two members Professor A. Atputharajah, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Mr. R. Valluvan, Coordinator of the University Business Linkage Cell of the Faculty of Engineering participated to this event.
