Dr. V. Cynthujah joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering.

Dr. V. Cynthujah received her PhD degree from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia in 2014. She received BSc. Eng. Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with first class honours from University of Peradeniya (UOP), Sri Lanka in 2010. She was a researcher and demonstrator in University of Peradeniya, from 2010-2011 and a write-up scholar and teaching assistant in QUT, Australia from May 2014 to November 2014.

Her Ph.D. research was on “Demand Response for Residential Appliances in a Smart Electricity Distribution Network: Utility and Customer Perspectives”. She conducted her undergraduate research on “Incorporating Pumped Storage Hydro Power Plant into Sri Lankan Transmission system”. As a write-up scholar in QUT, Australia, she performed a research on “Finding the percentage of customer engagement on an automated demand side intervention through a real-time pricing scheme considering socio-technical aspects”. She attended conferences such as IET-YMS (2010), PURSe (2010), ICCM (2012) and IECON (2013) as part of her research study. She has published over 12 papers in International Journals, Transactions and Conferences.

She obtained Faculty of Built Environment &Eng Scholarship (BEE), Fee Waiver Scholarship (FEEWAIVE), QUT Postgraduate Research Award (QUTPRA) and QUT Write-up Scholarship (QWU) from QUT, Australia while pursuing her Ph.D. degree.
