Second batch students visited the Wind Farm in Palai, Jaffna, Sri Lanka on 15th December 2014 during their orientation program. A 10MW wind power plant is under construction by Beta Power (Pvt) Ltd while another 10MW wind power plant by Joule Power (Pvt) Ltd. It was interesting to note that the AC to DC to AC converter configuration was used to connect each wind power generator to the grid. This visit gave an overall idea of wind power generation technologies and its growth, installation of wind turbines and some field work experience in engineering.
