Plaque unveiled to officially commence the construction of civil and mechanical engineering building

A plaque was unveiled ceremonially to officially commence the construction of civil and mechanical engineering building for the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna on 11th December 2015 jointly by His Excellency Shri Y.K. Sinha, High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka and Honorable Mr. H. M. G. S. Palihakkara, Governor of Northern Province. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Honorable Shri. A. Natarajan, Consul General of India, Jaffna, Professor VasanthyArasaratnam, Vice Chancellor, University of Jaffna, Mr.L.Ilaangovan, Secretary to the Governor, and the officials from Indian high commission, Sri Lanka. It was followed by a cultural program.

The total cost of the building project is LKRs 256 million, implemented under full grant assistance of the Government of India.The contract was awarded to Link Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd, a leading construction company, to be completed in one year. This building complex includes mechanical engineering laboratories, lecture theaters, computer aided design lab, administration, lobby and court yard. The Faculty thanks Dr. A. Anburuvel for his dedication on coordinating this project from the Faculty side.
