Workshop on “Office 365” was conducted to all the staff members

A session for introducing Office 365 Education for Faculty of Engineering staff was held on 22nd June 2016 at the computer laboratory. Mr. S. Thananjeyan, Mrs. J. Pratheeba and Miss S. Jananie conducted the session. The contents of the session are introduction of Office 365 academic package, the usage of the package for the faculty, collaboration workspace using SharePoint sites and the use of Classroom for teaching and learning activities. The session was concluded with the hands-on lab session. Most of the academic staff of the faculty of Engineering participated in the session.

Microsoft’s Office 365 Education package is a collection of services that allows us to collaborate and share our institutional work. It’s available for free to staff and students of the Faculty of Engineering. It has the definition such as: teachers who are currently working at an academic institution and to students who are currently attending an academic institution. The service includes mail account, Office Online (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote), 1 TB of OneDrive storage, OneDrive for business, Yammer, SharePoint sites and Microsoft Classroom.

Faculty of Engineering will be using the Office 365 Education’s facilities to provide better IT services to the staff as well as students. This session will be continued while needed for newly arrived staff and students with new improvements. The Faculty thank the three resource persons headed by Mr. S. Thananjeyan for their dedication on preparing this workshop to share their knowledge for the best services of the Faculty. Further special thanks also goes to Mr. S. Thananjeyan for his contribution on introducing this system to the Faculty.
