Dr. Randika Jayasinghe and Dr. V. Cynthujah, project coordinators from the Universities of Western Australia and Jaffna organize this team visit from 14th to 16thFebruary 2016 at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna. In this team, the project leader Prof. Caroline and other members from the University of Queensland, University of Western Australia and University of Perth visited to the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Jaffna.
The Engineering Week program was targeted to serve the best while creating excellent team working environment. This was inaugurated on 15th February and the closing ceremony is scheduled on 21st February, which is the birthday of the Faculty of Engineering students’ intake. As it is planned to be the largest event, it has been planned to include all the students and staff together. Mr. Velupillai Yogendran, a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, UK, Chartered Engineer, Chartered Water and Environmental Manager, Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, UK, and European Engineer (EurIng) visited the faculty on 11th February 2016. He is currently working in collaboration with the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK for the last 5 years, lecturing on Pollution Control, Waste Management & Water Treatment Processes to M.Sc. students at the University of Surrey. These two hours seminars on “Building Information Modelling (BIM)” were organized jointly by Faculty of Engineering together with Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka Northern Provincial Chapter. This was held in two places. On 27th January it was held at the Faculty of Engineering at Kilinochchi and 28th it was held at Euroville Conference hall in Jaffna to get the maximum benefits to the Students, Academics, Researchers and Engineers. Dr. Sivakumar, Mr. Sampath and Dr. Lorani Rajasooriya attended WaSo Workshop on January 11, 2016, at Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. Dr. Sivakumar and Dr. Lorani Rajasooriya delivered two presentations on their ongoing research activities in the Workshop. Dr. Lorani Rajasooriya, Department of Geography, University of Jaffna also attended for the meeting as resource person.
